Energy management system that is central to Kashiwa-no-ha Smart City

  • The Kashiwa-no-ha Smart Center oversees energy operations, management, and control for the entire town. The center uses wheeling throughout the area to cut peak power consumption by 26%, helping to conserve energy and cut carbon dioxide emissions.

An office area hub for more creative businesses

  • Kashiwa-no-ha Open Innovation Lab has one of Japan’s biggest co-working areas. Here, people can shape their creative ideas by exchanging knowledge and information. Many new innovations emerge here every day.

Comprehensive community health services facility

  • Kashiwa-no-ha Smart City champions preventive medicine by encouraging healthy lifestyles. The University of Tokyo and many enterprises have joined hands to assist people in developing healthy bodies under academic supervision.

Smart grid facilities

  • This facility has one of Japan’s biggest lithium-ion storage cell systems, as well as solar and emergency gas-powered generators. The facility integrates power generation, conservation, and storage and was the first in Japan to share power beyond a private grid.
    We do not offer tours of the Energy building for safety and security reasons.

Relaxation area for local residents and workers

  • People can relax together on the lawns and enjoy picnic lunches and concerts on holidays. The area doubles as an emergency evacuation site with its own lighting facilities for safeguarding the citizens.

  • People from diverse backgrounds gather in the center of Kashiwa-no-ha GATE SQUARE to exchange ideas and get to know each other every day.
